the girl behind the blog

Today I'm so on cloud nine to be linking up with Erin for her vlog series "The Girl Behind the Blog".  Doing my first vlog was something but I'm so excited to share a little bit more about my blog as well as my inspiration and challenges.

Recording myself was interesting.
Yes, that was my phone going off.  The Mr. was texting me.
And I realized how big my hair really is!  Holy thickness.  I swear my head's not lopsided, I just have a lot of hair.

On other news Saturday I was very fortunate to and got to attend the SoCal Blogger Meet-up!
These ladies put on an unforgettable event with tons of giveaways and created lasting memories.  A huge highlight for me was finally getting to meet some beautiful ladies that I have just adored on the blog-world, especially Katie and Meg!  When I was chatting with them it felt like we had been friends forever and made my heart smile to see how you can truly make friendships over blogs.

The event was at Roppongi in La Jolla and the weather couldn't have been better.  Whenever I drive into La Jolla I just have to thank God for letting us live in such a gorgeous city.

They had an adorable photo booth set-up with a polaroid frame.
Me with Katie and Hollie!

Dream come true!  Meg, me, and Katie!!!

AND I won something!!!  I got 4 different tops from Skinny Tees.  Tomorrow I'll be back to share a little bit more about them.

One last hug and picture before having to say farewell to Miss Katie, can't wait to see her again!

leap of faith

If you know my husband, you know that he is beyond hilarious and his Facebook posts will keep you laughing for a while.  He puts quite a bit of time thinking of clever ways to say things, gets this really cute look on his face, then opens his laptop and types away.  He loves it.

Well last night I got home and he asked, "Did he see my Facebook comment?  You're in it!"  My first thought was "Oh dear, what embarrassing thing did I do???"  Then he showed me this:
We then entered into this long conversation about the blog, and how it all started to what I love about it today.
I took a leap of faith.  And, for me, this doesn't come naturally as I can be insecure and let my hesitations win over.  I was visiting family, obsessed with some running and cooking blogs at the time, and thought to myself "Hey, I could start a blog to keep my dear, sweet grandma in the loop!"  Thus, "Lovebirds LaFuze" started.  YES, that was our original name.  Then it evolved to "Simple LaFuze" and some creativity took over and "The News" was born.

Well, what started as a way to keep family in the loop with our lives and joys turned into my personal diary, my way of just sharing a little bit about me.  But, I wasn't sharing everything.

I took a leap of faith.  Blogging changed for me about 4-6 months ago when I realized how networked it all way, how you could intimately know one another.  At the time I felt like the blog needed a purpose.  Would it just be what we're up to??  Cooking??  Some crafts??  I felt like it needed a focus point.  Then, I just let it all go, took a leap of faith, and actually started blogging about my faith.  As the months have progressed I've tried to open up more, not think so much-and just DO.  The blog is a potpourri of my life, because my life is entangled with so many elements and I am a woman who wears many hats.

I love my blog.  I love opening up my laptop and just writing what I am passionate about, sharing a recipe I tried or a craft I succeeded at, and just being me.  Through this process my heart has been overflowing with love from so many amazing and sweet ladies I have come across and the comments always send me on Cloud Nine.  It has been a journey, and I love every single one of you that read my blog because reading all of yours is the greatest joy.

I took a leap of faith.  I RSVPed for an event that I typically wouldn't go to because I would be showing up by myself?!?! and not know really anyone face to face?!?!  but I would get to meet the ladies behind beautiful blogs that I just adore.  This Saturday I'm attending my first ever blogger meet-up and I couldn't be more excited with a dash of anxiousness.  I can't wait to meet so many other woman who share a common joy, and I especially can't wait to finally meet Katie and Meg!  So, I'm going off on a new journey and if you're coming I am beyond excited to meet you!!!!

keeping up with the lafuzes

Whew!  I can barely believe that January is gone and February is here.  Well, my grad school is in full swing so I've had to say so long to the days of coming home to no homework and weekends spent relaxing on the couch.  Life looks a lot different from two weeks ago, but maintaining balance has been my top priority.  I feel like I haven't shared what we've been up to lately so here's some snapshots to entertain...
making Sunday pancakes.
It's a tradition!

getting lots of kisses when I get home from little miss Minnie.

buying a new rug for our living room.
We like it, now if we can just get a coffee table and make some pillows to brighten it up!

staying classy-ish for a fun date night.

having this breathtaking view in front of us while sipping a fabulous glass of wine.
To say I love San Diego would be an understatement.

eating lots and lots of Fage greek yogurt + blueberries + pepitas + agave.
I'm kind of obsessed right now.

sewing an adorable project for a good friend who is expecting a little boy.
I can't wait to show you what I made with a friend, but that'll have to wait just a couple more weeks :)

making this!
It took me less than 10 minutes to type, print, and cut everything.  It sits right next to our coffee pot since that's what we both see first in the morning (ha!) and we love it.  We just erase and write our own comment with a dry-erase marker.

spending lots and lots of time in front of the computer doing homework and lesson planning.  On the weekends you'll typically find me cozied up in the corner at Panera Bread or Starbucks glued to the screen and my textbooks.
On Friday nights when homework is my companion, wine just might also be present.

dusting off the cowboy boots and buttoning up our plaid shirts to go line dancing.
Oh, how I LOVE dancing!

spending whatever time I'm not doing homework/work/errands on the weekend doing laundry...and folding socks.  Not. My. Favorite.
I'd like to invent a robot to come and do laundry for us.  I don't mind the washing and drying, it's just the folding that doesn't quite tickle my fancy.  If you know of something with this miraculous robot please send them my way!
