{thankful vol. 12} bring on the rain

In sunny San Diego we don't get rain very often, so when we do it is like a natural disaster.  There are crazy amounts of accidents and cars along the road.  And everyone seems to be grumbling because the sun didn't shine.
I actually love the rain.  I love the way it keeps me in doors all bundled up.  I love the way it makes me relax as I listen to the pitter-patter outside.  I love the way I instantly desire tea or hot cocoa and the movie "Elf".
Yesterday is rained pretty hard.  My morning started out with a workout with a friend of mine's bootcamp class.  I'm so thankful that I can be back with the class on Saturdays.  By body truly needed motivation for a good, hard, strong workout.  The rain did not stop us.  Luckily we found a covered spot to workout, and boy oh boy, the rain did not diminish our chances of working out.
As the day went on I stayed in doors, catching up on homework, drinking tea, looking at way too many blogs, reading a bit, and just relaxing.  This weekend was truly the weekend to relax.
I'm realizing that I push my schedule to the maximum.  If I think I can fit something in, I will.  These leaves me exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, and in tears by the end of the day/week.  I added an additional class to my workload this past week to clear my teaching credential, so that brings me up to 3 classes on top of teaching full time.  Even though I didn't get all of my homework done yesterday, I'm still so very thankful for the rain:
it kept me in doors
it kept me motivated
it allowed me to just relax
it brought a joy inside of me
it helped me love the day instead of wishing I was outside doing other things

The motto of the weekend is RELAX.  One of my beautiful friends always tells me, "Stress Less"!  The rain definitely helped me to do just that.

  1. I know how you feel this weekend. I spent a lot of my weekend preparing lessons and activities for this week...and I stayed home most of the days. BUT it was nice to stay in, slow down, and just get done what needed to get done. AND TO SLEEP! :)
